Dr. Alex attended Penn State University on an athletic scholarship where he graduated with a degree in Biology in 1977. He then took advanced level graduate courses in both chemistry and biology before working at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He then attended Tufts University Dental School where he earned his DMD in 1981. He has taken thousands of hours of continuing dental education over the last 31 years with an emphasis on occlusion, adhesion, comprehensive dentistry, materials, and cosmetic dentistry. He lectures and teaches on a regular basis and “Dentistry Today” has continually named him as one of the top educators in dentistry. His son Garrick represents the third generation of dentists (Dr. Alex’s father was also a dentist) and graduated fromColumbia Dental School in May of 2013.  He was also Columbia’s first pick for their coveted MD degree Oral Maxillary/Facial Surgery program and started his residency in July of 2013.  Dr. Alex also has a daughter (Ashleigh) he is very proud of attending The College of Holy Cross where she is majoring in pre-med.

Dr. Alex is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistryand past president of the AACD New York Chapter. To achieve accredited status dentists must demonstrate an extremely high proficiency in reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry by presenting a number of peer reviewed clinical cases before an accreditation committee.  A comprehensive written examination must also be passed.  As of December 2010, only ten dentists in New York State had successfully achieved accredited status. With a background in chemistry and adhesive technology, Dr. Alex is a consultant for numerous dental manufacturers and member of the IADR  (International Association of Dental Research). He has written, and had published, numerous scientific articles and papers. He regularly conducts and participates in scientific studies on materials and adhesives. He has studied occlusion extensively with Dr. Peter Dawson (Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study) and the late Dr. Bob Lee (Lee Institute) and is amember of the AES  (American Equilibration Society). Dr. Alex is also on the editorial advisory board of, and has had a number of articles published in, the highly respected peer-reviewed publications “Inside Dentistry”,”Compendium”, “AACD Journal”, and“Funtional Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry”.

Dr. Alex teaches dentists world-wide and is involved with a number of continuing education programs. He regularly conducts hands-on programs and lectures on adhesion, porcelain veneers, direct and indirect restorations, materials, and occlusion. He has taught at numerous dental schools and at major dental meetings where his courses are continually among the top-rated programs.
